she joined the Communist party during the Depression because of social  injustices. She fought for many causes  like the NZ campaign for nuclear disarmament and she fought for all NZ not just her self.

Waharoa – T shaped Literacy

For literacy we studied Waharoa’s and we found some facts here are mine:

    • It is to welcomes visitors
    • he shape of each side of the waharoa imitates the gnomon (the fin on a sundial) which are the markers of time, casting the shadow onto the face of the sundial.
    • Fayne dezined the Waharoa’s in a lot of places
  • At the top of Waharoa in  Aotea Square  there are five main symbols. Looking from Queen Street from the right, is Tama nui te Ra (God of the Sun). Next to him is Tangaroa, God of the Sea, seen in whale form, mounted by a myth-man. In the middle is Tane Mahuta (God of the Forest), who is depicted as a bird, and beside him is Tawhiri Matea (God of the Elements). On the far left, representing heavenly spheres, is Whetu me te Marama (the crescent moon and stars).
  • For the artist, tradition is not the only major element. The sculpture includes images from all over the Pacific and, while the shapes within it are rooted in mythology
